Digital Preservation Policy

V. Digital Preservation Policy

To ensure the preservation of and access to the digital content of Revista Biomédica, it is hosted both on the institution's own servers and in the repositories to which the Biomedical Journal belongs. Furthermore, file backups are maintained, metadata in a format compatible with digital preservation and interoperability is used, and DOI identifiers have been assigned to the content to date. The journal is part of the Public Knowledge Projects Preservation Network (PKP-PN), whose objective is the preservation of digital archives and whose scope and processes can be consulted at https://pkp.sfu.ca/pkp-pn/.

Revista Biomédica is compatible with the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system, which guarantees the journal's permanent and secure archive. LOCKSS is an open-source program developed by Stanford University Library that allows libraries to preserve selected online journals by periodically searching indexed journals to collect newly published content and archive it. Each archive is continuously validated against other libraries' records, so any damaged or missing content can be restored from those records or from the journal itself.
