Open Access Policy

VII. Open Access Policy

Revista Biomédica is an open-access electronic journal that offers immediate access to its content, based on the principle that providing the public with free access to research fosters a greater global exchange of knowledge.

As a publishing endeavor for scientific dissemination, Revista Biomédica aligns its open access policy with the definition of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI, 2001), which defines open access as “free availability on the internet that allows any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text of these articles, crawl them for indexing, incorporate them as data into software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from accessing the internet itself. The only limitations on reproduction and distribution, and the only role of copyright in this area, should be to grant authors control over the integrity of their work and the right to be properly acknowledged and cited.”

This means that articles published by Revista Biomédica can be downloaded by any user free of charge. Revista Biomédica has obtained copyright permissions from authors for the unrestricted dissemination of their articles in full text, and has standardized data for each published article to ensure proper citation and thus increase the visibility of scientific output.
